Workflow: cycle and weekly plan
A big mistake for a newbie is to act chaotically. Needed simple rhythm.
Vibe coding cycle without chaos
- Formulate a goal
- Collect context
- Request a plan
- Small change → check → checkpoint
- Iteration → deployment
and Codex, and Claude Code encourages planning and checkpoints, so as not to be afraid to “try risky” and roll back.
Mini rhythm for every project
- Formulate 1 goal and 1 main scenario. Example: “The user leaves a request → I see a list of requests → a notification arrives.”
- Make a short “project contract” of 10–15 lines. What we do, for whom we do NOT, readiness criteria.
- Work in small steps. One step = one verifiable change. Reduces the risk of “AI rewrote everything.”
- First plan, then action. If the tool supports planning mode, use it. For Replit this is Plan Mode.
- Make “saves”. Modern agent tools rely on guardrails: Claude Code has checkpoints and permissions.
- Test in a live environment before production. Preview-deploy - your filter. Preview for branches/PR, production for main.
Plan for 7 days - exactly what to do
| Day | Goal of the day | Tasks | Artifact |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Understand what we are building | 8–12 questions (interview), 1-page technical specification, “done” criteria | SPEC.md + user stories |
| 2 | Select stack | Generator (Lovable/Replit/IDE+agent), backend (Supabase/Firebase), deployment (Vercel/built-in) | STACK.md + solution “why” |
| 3 | Assemble the frame | UI skeleton, routes/pages, “empty” forms | Worker prototype in dev |
| 4 | Add data | Tables/collections, CRUD, minimum authorization | Minimum working logic |
| 5 | Integrations | 1–2 external APIs, 1 webhook or workflow in n8n (if needed) | Integration works end‑to‑end |
| 6 | Tests and quality | 3–5 tests, error handling, README | README.md + basic tests |
| 7 | Deployment and security | Env vars by environment, secrets, OWASP-minimum checklist, deployment to preview → prod | URL production + checklist “passed” |
Process Tool Tips
- Codex: do Git checkpoints before/after tasks.
- Claude Code: rely on checkpoints/permissions and run CLAUDE.md.
- Replit: plan in Plan Mode before “build”.
What a “beginner’s bundle” looks like
- Chat/Model — for requirements and prompts
- App builder or agent — for assembly
- n8n —if integrations and automation are needed
- Vercel — if you need a stable deploy
